On the night before Christmas, everyone gets excited for it’s the day before Christmas, which is called Christmas Eve. The children are usually sent to bed early and are warned that “Santa Claus will only come and give you a present if you be good.” The younger kids actually believe that Santa will come down the chimney on a sleigh pulled by his reindeer. Food like shortbread and beer are prepared for Santa when he comes, however most times parents just eat them. Some children put socks and sacks up for the holding of the presents (that their parents put in).

In addition to the festive atmosphere, Christmas is also a time for family gatherings and exchanging gifts. People decorate their homes with colorful lights, Christmas trees, and other festive ornaments. The streets are filled with cheerful music and the scent of roasted chestnuts, creating a warm and joyful ambiance.

One of the most iconic symbols of Christmas is Santa Claus, a jolly old man with a long beard, wearing a long red hat with “Merry Christmas” embroidered on it. He is said to bring presents for children, filling their stockings or leaving them at the side of their beds. This magical tradition brings excitement and wonder to young children, making Christmas a truly special time for them.
